Much would depend on what tack the Rangers take with their own free agent, Josh Hamilton, but there are a million reasons why the Rangers would covet Ellsbury and be more willing to risk a long-term deal on him than Hamilton. His left-handed bat in that ballpark, and his speed and defense would make him nearly as valuable as Hamilton. There are no behavioral headaches with Ellsbury, only injury worries, but his injury history is less concerning than what plagues Hamilton.
